Good Bye Steve.

Life sometimes is so unpredictable. Life is sometimes downright rotten. Life is often times too much to bare.

Today is one of those days.

Today, I learned that my good friend Steve passed away sometime last night.

I wrote about Steve just last week, and again yesterday.

Steve and I were emailing back and forth all day yesterday- something we did quite frequently. My final email to him was around 8:00pm. I never heard back from him.

Steve was an amazing man. He was such a great support to both Shane and myself throughout my pregnancy with Joshua. He sent links to us giving us as much information as our minds could handle. He called us throughout Joshua's life to check in and see how things were going. He posted about Joshua, keeping his readers updated out Joshua's progress, life, and death. He helped protect our family from some of the attacks that came after Joshua's death. He gave of himself freely to help raise awareness of CHD as well as support others who are living the CHD life.

Steve was a 44 year old CHD warrior himself. He had a defect called Tricuspid Atresia. He was also my friend, and now he's with all of the precious babies and children who have preceded him in death. His parents have now joined the awful club that noone wants to be a part of.

Please keep Steve's family and friends in your prayers. Steve was such an inspiration to so many. The CHD community has lost another amazing person to this nasty nasty disease.

Steve, we love you and will miss you so much. Give my sweet baby kisses for me and tell him how much we love him.

I will truly miss Steve. I have been a faithful follower of his blog after stumbling upon it two years ago. He was a great man. Truly an inspiration to so many. Steve was always so willing to help and he posted on his blog about my search for an adult survivor like my son, Logan earlier this fall. It meant the world to me that he took the time to find a connection for me. In true Steve fashion he pulled through without failing. He was a gift to the CHD community and will be so deeply missed.

Oh, how I am going to miss getting his blog posts by e-mail. They were like Christmas presents each day. You never knew what he would post but it was always guaranteed to be good.

Glad you had the chance to get to know Steve Jill.

Steve was a wonderful human being ... he showed us Heart Warriors how to live ... breath ... and not let our CHD be us but help others who need us ... need to see us surviving, thriving, living a normal life and I can only hope as I pick up the small flame along with other CHD Survivors of the big torch Steve left to us that we can carry on ... and show this is survivable ... thrivable ... and livable ... Rest in Peace sweet Steve and Jill on days like this I wish I lived closer to you ... so I could give you a real hug!!

it's amazing to read Steve's blog and think how much he has gone through and how much guidance he has given along the way... the "run the race" entry almost seems prophetic.

I'm sure he is in Heaven snuggling those babies (esp Joshua) for their parents so they will remember the love they have felt from you!

I stumbled across this blog by happenstance. Yours make my troubles seem trivial. God bless you, your baby, your family, and your friends. And I will be praying for the family of your friend as well. God bless!

Oh no!! I just found his blog through yours... what a passionate heart his was! Stumped. You're right, we accumulate questions about life far faster than we gain answers... I'm so sorry to hear this. His posts made me remember what I need to remember, and the importance of staying involved, for my son's sake.

Oh no! This is awful. Very shocked to hear about Steve - I'm an adult CHD survivor and read his blog regularly. Do you know what happened?
