900 Ounces

That is how much milk I donated to the Milk Bank today.

It's hard to see, but the bottles of milk were all in the brown plastic bags.
It filled up almost half of a big deep freezer.

Wow, good for you! I am sure it was hard to let go of that milk. I hope you find some peace in knowing it will help someone else's baby.

I'm still in tears from the beauty/love/heartbreak of the two previous posts. You are such a good mama and I bet the first thing Joshua did in Heaven was thank Jesus for entrusting him to you. Donating your milk gives you a chance to be a good mama to all those premie babies who will benefit from the love you have for Joshua.

What an awesome thing for you to do!!! I can't imagine how incredibly painful that was for you, but it's truly so selfless and AMAZING of you to put all that milk to good use. I know Joshua is looking down on you from Heaven with so much love and pride in his heart because he has the best mommy ever!

As a mother who was in the ICU after delivering my baby, I thank you. While my daughter did not receive any donated milk, I know that there are many families tonight who are deeply grateful to you for your donation. I know we would have been eternally grateful for such a donation.

That is amazing.

That had to have been painful to do, but just thinking of passing on the legacy of Joshua like that must bring a comfort too.

The human milk bank is a life-saving wonderful thing.

My niece had a rare extreme allergy to proteins, soy, and dairy where she was allergic to all formulas on the market including the hypoallergenic ones, soy, goat's milk, you name it, she's allergic. That is the first time I learned of the human milk bank. Luckily my sister in law was nursing, but she learned from the allergists if anything happened to her where she needed a hospital stay or heaven-forbid worse, the human milk bank would step in.

Your milk can literally SAVE lives.

Thank GOD for you.

:)

I have a son with HLHS. While recovering from his second surgery, we ended up needing donated breast milk. His heart had healed nicely from the surgery, but his stomach just could not tolerate the formula he had been using on and off since birth. I had been pumping since he was born, but my milk supply had dried up due to all the stress. The MDs would not let us leave the hospital unless we had a way to feed him successfully. Thanks to the selfless mothers like yourself that donated milk to a bank, we were able to get a large enough supply of breast milk delivered to our house so that we could go home.

Thank you for your sacrifice in the midst of such pain. You have been in our thoughts and prayers. Your post about the day Joshua passed reduced me to tears. I fully realize that any one of us heart moms could easily be in your position at any time. While I pray that that doesn't happen in our own personal journey with HLHS, if I was able to handle it with the grace that you have displayed, I would be proud.

God bless you!
Heart hugs,
Sarah Smith

Wow, this will help so many babies Jill! I can only guess how hard it is to donate this knowing that Joshua was supposed to get it.
