I found this picture on a website and I thought I would share it with you. The heart on the right is a normal heart. The heart on the left is an HLHS heart.
I find the heart to be so confusing, and really have not fully understood the defect. This picture has helped me to better understand what exactly is wrong with Joshua's heart. Take a look.

So confusing. Heart defects are especially confusing because they're different from each patient. Each heart is unique. <3 Little Joshua's included. <3
I once found a comparison of a 'normal' and HLHS heart that were animated, but I can't find the link now. Even after almost five years, I feel like I I have a better grasp on what exactly hlhs is, but it's hard for me to say it so that it makes sense...
It is very confusing! D is 15 months old and I still have a lot of questions about his heart. It's just so hard to comprehend when you can't look at it and touch it to figure it out. And then they throw in things that don't follow the "normal" diagnosis and there aren't pictures of those anywhere online. D's doctors drew us a picture of his heart. That helped a lot. I've sure learned a lot, but wow still so much more to learn!
Heart defects are so confusing, and they have so many variables. It always helps me to see a picture too.
