Moving Date

It seems that due to the busy summer months, our homebuilding is crawling along very SLOOOOOOOWLY. It has been over 3 weeks with absolutely NO work being done in our home.

Shane and I went into this process promising ourselves and God that there would be NO complaining about the homebuilding process. We are perfectly content with the waiting. We would rather the builders take their time and get our home (as well as the others that they are building) right, than rush through it and cut corners. We have kept the end goal in sight: In the end, we will have a beautiful brand new home.

So here we are, 3 weeks later, still waiting for the plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling to go in. No other work can be done until those things are complete. So, we wait.

We are being told that it will be late September early October before we will be able to close on our new home. We are ok with that. It's just making planning our next steps very difficult.

We are trying to plan as best as we can. Our landlord requires 60 days notice before we move out. We are trying not to double up on rent and mortgage for a month. Caleb will be starting school at a new school. School starts on August 15. Because we will not yet be living in the school district of his new school, I will have to drop him off and pick him up every day. They will allow him to attend his new school because we have a signed purchase agreement, but we were hoping to only have to transport him for a few weeks rather than a few months. We are trying to figure out how to make all of this transition work without driving ourselves crazy! :o)

So, we have decided that we are going to turn in our written notice to our landlord next week and we are going to be moving out of our rental on Oct. 1. If our home is not complete, we will put all of stuff in storage for a few weeks and move in with my mom until the house is complete.

The rental that we have been living in over the past year has been great. We have been blessed with some incredible neighbors to share the wall with (we are in a townhouse/duplex/condo whatever you want to call it.) However, I simply cannot WAIT to start packing and getting our things ready to move. We are so incredibly excited about our new home.

Over the past few weeks, when we have gone over to our house, Shane and I have left speechless. We both feel so incredibly blessed to be able to call that home ours. We feel so undeserving, yet so grateful for the blessing that God has given us. It has been such an incredible journey for us, and we are humbled and honored that we have been given the gift of a new home.
