Prayer Warriors Get Ready for Battle

It's with an extremely heavy heart that I am writing to ask you again for prayers on behalf of our family.

There is no beating around the bush.

We found out tonight that my dad has cancer- and a lot of it.

Over the past few weeks, he has been struggling with soreness in his back. Over the past week, the pain has become unbearable. He has had multiple trips to the ER and has been given some extreme pain medication. Just yesterday they discovered that 2 of his vertebrae are fractured.

The problem is, is there was no trauma to his back to cause the break.

Today they performed an MRI. He was in so much pain, he couldn't get off the table. After a brief review of the MRI, they found masses in his spine. However, the cancer did not originate in the spine.

He has been transferred a larger hospital in the city just east of us  for more testing. They need to first find out where the cancer is and where else it has spread.

Please.

I'm begging you.

Pray for our family- my mom, dad, and brother. Pray for his doctors.

Just Pray.

I'm absolutely devastated. My dad and I are extremely close.

I'm not sure if I can handle another loss. I'm not sure if our family can handle another loss. I'm not sure if my faith can handle another loss.

I find myself asking where God is in all of this. Why does he continue to allow our family to face the trials we have faced? Why does he allow this type of suffering? When is it going to end?

Please. I'm begging you for your prayers.

So many prayers for your family. May the promise of Christmas restore your faith and bring you comfort and grace. It is real and understandable that faith would take a hit. It is too much. Much, much too much. No matter how big your doubts or anger the babe in the manger knows your heart!

Dear God,

You are the ultimate healer. I pray that you would surround Jill's dad with your loving kindness and that you would wipe all the cancer cells from his body. Give wisdom to the doctors. give comfort to Jill and her family and let them know that you are there for them and that you are going to stay with them. you will never leave or forsake them. Just be with them in their time of need.

amen

Jill, I am so sad to hear this and most certainly joining you and your family in prayer. As I was praying just now, two things came to mind:

Lamentations 3:22-24
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”

And also a hymn written based on Psalm 84:
Tune: Holy Manna – “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship”

vv. 1-4
Lord of hosts, how sweet Your dwelling;
How my soul longs for Your courts!
Let my soul with joy keep telling
Of Your grace forever more.
Like a bird upon the altar
Let my life to You belong.
Blessed are they who never falter
As they praise Your grace with song!

vv. 5-7
Blessed are they whose strength is founded
In Your strength, O Lord above.
All whose hearts in You are grounded
Journey in Your strength and love.
Though they weep with tears of sadness,
Grace shall all their way sustain.
In Your presence, filled with gladness,
They shall conquer all their pain.

vv. 8-12
Lord of hosts, my prayer receiving,
Hear me, help me by Your grace!
In Your courts I stand believing;
Turn to me Your glorious face!
Lord, our sun, our shield, our glory,
No good thing will You deny
To those who proclaim Your story,
And who on Your grace rely.

If there is anything I can do beyond prayer for your family, just say the word.

Oh honey! So sorry!! Will be praying for you and your family during this new difficult time. I can't imagine what you are going through and how tough this is.
I had a hard time when my grandmother got cancer but she really just glowed with the love of God the whole time~never thought I would ever laugh so hard I thought I would pee myself while someone was undergoing chemo: but my g'ma managed to make us do it. I think it was her sureness in where she was going after death, that there was a real peace about her. Of course that doesn't mean I didn't hate it when she passed away...or that I don't still miss her 10 years later. Losing my baby nephew 8 years, however, knocked me off my rocker.
Will be keeping you and all of your family in our prayers in our prayers.
xoxo
