Oh Pregnancy....

I really am not complaining about this pregnancy. I promise. (well, I kinda am, but not because of a lack of appreciation for what I have....we all need to complain every once in a while right?!)

I would take a pregnancy like this over a pregnancy like we had with Joshua any day- one where we continuously waited for him to die inside me and then received a devastating diagnosis.

This pregnancy has been a breeze compared to the last one, and I know how truly blessed I am.

However, I'm reaching the point of losing any tiny amount of patience I have left.

I've been in constant pain for almost 2 months now with my hips and lower back. I've had to slow down significantly and my body has restricted me from being able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather of the fall. (it's no one's fault but my own for being so out of shape, but it is what it is.)

Most recently, I've lost any tiny amount of coordination that I had left.

Last night I tripped over some toys that were laying on the kitchen floor. I can no longer lift my feet when I walk due to the pain in my hips and lower belly. I tried to (stupidly) step over one of Hannah's baby's high chairs and my foot didn't quite make it over.

I went sailing through the air, trying to catch myself in the process. I landed on my right knee and my legs were in the most unnatural position I have ever been in. (what's even worse is that this all happened in front of Shane and the kids....)

Shane helped me up as best as he could, but by that point I was to the point of tears and extreme frustration.

Last night was horrible pain wise. On top of the regular pregnancy pain, I am now dealing with extreme pain from the fall. My toe that caught on the high chair is pounding, my knee is bruised, and my hips are grinding worse than ever before. I literally cannot stand up straight because the pain in my hips is too intense.

I called the doctor, and there isn't much they can do as long as baby is still moving and I'm not bleeding or anything. I figured that would be what they would say, but better safe than sorry.

I'm 37 weeks. I have 3 more weeks of this. I'm just not sure how I am going to mentally and physically get through it. For as silly as it sounds, I'm asking God for the grace it takes to get through the day. I'm asking for strength and healing and most importantly patience.

I don't want to rush Luke out, I want him to come when he is good and ready, but I'm really REALLY tired. Tired of the pain, tired of not being able to move, and tired of the sacrifices that my body is demanding of me.

I'm ready little one. Let's get this show on the road.

Well Jill I'm not preggo but do have hip pain - My mom made some "rice bags" fabric sewn together and stuffed with regular (cheap) rice.
I freeze some - they would be good for your knee and I heat others in the microwave about 3 mins then put on my hip - it really does help.
And I'm not trying to make lite about your injuries or your pain - but laughter sometimes is the best medicine.
You can make it for 3 weeks - just no more trying to hop over baby doll toys !!! LOL LOL
Ahhhh if only Shane had video camera on for America's Funniest Video

Hi Jill. I found your blog recently after just walking a very similar road to you with your little boy Joshua. It's only been 3 weeks since I kissed my sweet Zac goodbye till I get to hold him in Heaven. He too had half a heart. I just wanted to tell you how grateful I have been to read through many of your posts and how thrilled I am to read that you are so close to meeting your precious Luke. Having just been preggie, I can so imagine how you must be feeling so close to being full term. Sending a prayer that you will be carried through these last 3 weeks with incredible grace and strength. Sending you a great big hug today. Janine

Jill, have you considered seeing a chiropractor? They can be wonderful for those pregnancy aches and pains!

I HIGHLY recommend a chiropractor!!! They were the only way I was able to keep running pain free through both my pregnancies. Do some research and go see one- you will be so glad you did!

Oh Jill!!! Promise no more stepping over anything~from toys to shoes!!! I live in constant pain from fibromyalgia and peripheral polyneuropathy and it's usually my lower back and hips that have the worst pain. On really bad days I literally do not lift my feet off the floor when walking~I slide them along. My balance gets so bad that trying to lift my feet to step over something literally sends me crashing. I feel your pain!!
Try to stay off your feet today...is that possible with 2 little ones??? And another kicking you about from the inside??
I am not in to chiropractors however, pregnancy massages are the bomb!!! And I am a fan of acupuncture!!
Heal well, baby yourself, and may Luke come soon!
xo~Mary

I want to go to a chiropractor, but our insurance requires $1000 out of pocket before anything will be covered. Its not in our budget for right now. :o(

I vote a trip to the salon for hair and manicure! Worked when my little darling went 2wks over. I relaxed into a wonderful hair wash, cut, and style, followed by fabulous manicure, and went into labor the very next day ;) Cheaper than a chiropractor.

My chiropractor charges $35 for an adjustment. Check out icpa4kids.org to find one in your area that works with pg moms, babies and kids. Call around to see how much they charge. Some offer payment plans. There's no way you can (or should anyway) go on in your condition. There's also a good chance your hips and lower back being out of alignment would complicate delivery. At any rate, I hope you find relief. Soon.

Some chiropractors give deep discounts for those paying on their own. For instance, my chiro would charge an insurance company something like $100 for a visit, but since I pay out of pocket, she only charges us $45. My daughter has insurance through her dad that won't cover her visits, and it's a lifesaver for us. She's in constant pain and the chiro is the only thing that helps, albeit temporarily. She also does acupuncture, which helps too!
