I Got Stuck....Literally...

It's no secret that I'm 9 months pregnant.

It's also no secret that I am overweight.

Those two elements added together create some rather interesting situations around the Haskins' household.

Going to bed is one of my dreaded activities throughout the day. Sleeping has become painful, awkward, and sometimes embarassing.

Our bed has magically become too small.

Getting in and out of bed has become a huge feat for me.

As it turns out, there is only one way to get in bed without completely killing myself and causing all of my joints in my lower body to crumble.

Step 1: Sit on the edge of the bed.

Step 2: Rotate to the left and swing the left foot up and over the mattress. Sometimes this requires a hand to help lift.

Step 3: Continue to rotate to the left and quickly swing the right foot up and over the mattress allowing the right leg to land whenever inertia causes it to stop moving.

Step 4: After making sure there are no covers near by or underneath (because pulling them out from under a body that can't move is too difficult) very slowly fall back onto the left side of your body, tucking the body pillow safely under the protruding belly and between the legs.

Step 5: Grab onto the headboard of the bed to adjust your body to the proper angle to sleep comfortably.

These 5 steps have been proven effective for getting into bed for the past 2 or so months.

However, last night, I decided that I wanted to try and crawl into bed instead of follow the proven 5 step procedure.

It failed.

I got stuck.

I literally had to hang on to the side of the bed with one hand and onto the headboard with another to prevent myself from falling off as I yelled for Shane to help.

He had to stand behind me and literally push me from behind to get me into proper sleeping position.

I guess that is the last time I try to get creative in getting in and out of bed.

I'm so ready for Luke to make his arrival. This stuff is getting humiliating!

Awww... soon and very soon, Jill! I totally understand your pain!!! I used to get stuck when I laid on my back. I'd try to be partially sitting up to read a book or something in bed, then when I tried to roll to my side or, God forbid, sit up, I was literally immobile. My hubby would have to reach behind my back and literally pick up the top half of me. Getting out of bed was always a treat too.

Aww Jill! All I remember about my pregnancy is belly crawling underneath my house at 9months to rescue the puppy that was tangled..Had visions of having 911 have to rescue me but I made it out.

Is it ok to tell you that I LOL? Oh how I love you Jill and wished we were neighbours.... You could have called me to help. We would have ended up on the floor laugh crying I am sure. I am going to give Luke another eviction notice...this one is a tough cookie!

Praying for you Love!
