Fierce and Fiesty?!

Does anyone know how to spell these days? Apparently not because there have only been about 2 people (and no, I'm not calling my readers dumb) that have caught my mispelling! (either that or no one mentioned it to me other than my dear old friend "anynomous"- who I think was trying to leave it to try to tick me off- or make me feel really stupid) :o)

Did you know that Fiesty is actually spelled feisty?! E before I?

Stupid mistake on my part...(you know...i was thinking fiesty---the i sound like pie...).when I first set up the site, almost a year ago, it took me about a month for me to realize that I made the mistake, but by that point, I had enough readers that I didn't want to change the address because then they would lose me! :o) So I left it!

Spelling fierce with the i before e and feisty with the e before the i was too confusing for my feeble little mind! It doesn't make sense to me! (Maybe some of you spelling and grammar fanatics can help me out on that one!)

So, sorry for those of you who hate mispelled words. It's just easier for my brain to spell it the same way! (I'm not afraid to admit when I make stupid mistakes, and this was one of them! Sometimes I just have to laugh at myself!)

I am THE.WORST.SPELLER! If spell check don't catch it I am doomed! ;)
Yeah, I always thinked the rule was i before e except after c which don't ALWAYS work because their are words that have the e before i after c. English is a screwed up language YO!
Grade that grammer eh? LOL

I had a heck of a time finding your site because of it's spelling, but figured you knew what you were doing.... :) Sorry I didn't point it out to you, but eh, what would you have done anyways?

Seriously... did someone really call you out on that?! So many larger things in this world that people could put their energy in to. All of the time spent put in to the ugliness you saw could have been put into actually raising awareness for CHDs. My dear friend lost her HLHS baby after 87 short days. I will spend the rest of my days raising awareness for CHDs and Pregnancy/Infant/Child Loss Awareness (I had amiscarriage and my best friend gave birth to full term sleeping boy).

God bless you Jill. You and your family are in my prayers.

Usually when people spell things wrong, I figure they did it on purpose...
:) You could quickly delete this post or edit it to claim you knew all along and did it on purpose.

Praying for your family still,
Peach and Drummer

Hey...I thought it was spelled correctly! I always figure I am a pretty good speller too. Oh well...anonymous needs to find something better to do with his/her time anyway.

I don't want to say I did it on purpose, because that would be lying! I think it's kinda funny that I misspelled the name to my ENTIRE blog! I guess it shows that I'm not perfect once again! :o)

Hehe. So funny and I never noticed until I began reading this post. It so doesn't matter but I do have an idea as to why. (okay-here is what singing all those German Songs for my music Ed degree did for me. Lol). It is a German pronunciation. In German E before I is pronounced like the I and I before E is like the E.
That being said, who cares right? It's the fact that you are feisty (or fiesty) that matters. :)

I misspell all the time and for that I never noticed the name lol and who cares obviously anonymous has way too much time on their hands for all we kno it could have been on purpose (even if it wasn't benefit of the doubt) and it's not English class it's a blog about life its not that serios and spell check is the bomb lol.....

I didn't notice, though I'm doomed with out spell check, and if it misses a word, or I was sure it was right and added it or purpously mispelled it for a certian story and added it to spell check I'm doomed. but so long as I can sound it out i'm good :) I even spell my name different then every one else because honestly what are the point in the e's in Catherine? Really? Cathrin is so much shorter.

Jill,

I didn't really "notice" until the anonymous comment came up about the mispelled word. It was only then that I caught on to the reversal of the letters. By that time, I just figured you did it that way on purpose! It's called "Literary License"! Ha

I was joking. That's why there's a smiley face, though maybe XP would have been more appropriate. LOL, have an amazing day!

Oh Peach, I knew you were joking! :o)

You know, in school I was the top speller in my class every year. Now that I'm no longer in school...I'll admit my spelling has went down the crapper. I fear if it weren't for Fire Fox putting a red squiggle line under every word I spell wrong as I type it no matter where I'm typing, I'm fear no one would be able to understand what I was typing! Thank you for spell check. Even then, something will occasionally get misspelled or the words will get backwards. Woops. I too am NOT afraid to admit I spelled it wrong. I *try* to reread what I type...but don't always have time. And often times I'm typing with a child on my lap so it's hard to type LOL. Or my eyes are just too tired in the evening to CARE what I'm typing. And I also type really fast so I think sometimes my hands work faster than my brain does and I mess up.

Also, when I see someone elses spelling errors, I tend to shut up and not say anything. I know some people do not react well to having their mistakes pointed out!

I have a friend who established a group for raising awareness and money for breast cancer. His web site is http://www.t-4-b.org/ (Testies for Breasties). It is an all male organization, and yes he realizes the spelling error, but as he says, he is trying to make it a catch phrase and to make a little bit of humor in a very serious fight.
So be Fiesty or Feisty or Feistie....it's all okay by us!

Jill, I like to think I am a very good speller, and I usually am the first one to catch a mistake, but I didn't even notice! Probably because I did the same thing, for years, with the word "weird". I thought it should follow the i before e rule, too, and so I always spelled it "wierd". And here's another thing: once you start trying to teach your kids to read and spell, you realize just how all over the place the English language is! It is hard to try and explain all the special cases to a 4-year-old. It's a wonder any of us made it this far! :)

I never noticed, and honestly, it looks right to me :) If you'd misspelled "the real life..." then maybe I'd give you a hard time :)Don't worry about it. Clearly none of us care, and obviously NONE of us can spell ;)

I noticed, but I figured it was done intentionally. I really didn't want to go all high school English teacher on you. ;) I like it, though... makes your blog pretty unique, you know?

The first vowel does the walking and the second one does the talking. :)

I am going to admit I was *just* Googling your blog (Since I've relocated mine, it's no longer just a click away) -- and I spelled it fiesty in the search window. Ah well, I guess I was channeling my inner giant..."Fee fie foe fum" and all that jazz. Oh well, no biggie.
