Oh Kidney's, why have you forsaken me?!

For the past few days my lower right back has been KILLING me! Combine that with the crampiness that I contributed to being just 3 weeks postpartum and it made for one miserable mama.

Yesterday, the pain in my back got so bad that I was having to breathe through waves of pain, much like contractions. I couldn't get up and move, pick up Joshua, or even walk. I took some ibuprofin and that took the pain away. I thought maybe it was a back spasm or something.

Well, today, I woke up agian and could hardly move because the pain was so bad. I got out of bed and nauseousness hit me. I thought I was going to puke. I finally got that under control and tried to stand up and couldn't even stand up fully. Something was not right and I was tired of feeling like crap.

I finally broke down and went to an urgent care clinic. If you know me personally, I refuse to go to the doctor and I refuse to take medication, so for me to go was kind of a big deal. I got there and I immediately wanted to leave. I hate going to the doctors. Then they threw the $50 copay in with it and I about turned around and walked out.....except I couldn't...I was in too much pain...

The did a pee test and it immediately came back as a kidney infection. GREAAAAATTTTT! So they are sending the cultures off for another test and then they will let me know if I need to go on a stronger antibiotic.

This is like the 3rd kidney/bladder infection I have had in the past year. It's so frustrating to be in this much pain...especially when I'm supposed to be caring for my newborn in the NICU.

Please pray that this unbearable pain goes away soon and that this clears up quickly. I'm miserable- especially because I'm not at home. I hate being sick away from home.

Goodness, that sounds like what happened to me when I had a kidney stone. Unbearable pain, vomitting, etc. If the antibiotics don't work and that pain doesn't get better, you should go to a urologist or something to see if it is a liuttle stone. I have heard women during pregnancy or after birth can easily get bladder/kidney infections, so maybe it is from the strain on your body with you recently giving birth. It happened to my sister and she had infection for month or so, I hope it gets better soon - try to take care of yourself...I am sure that is easier said than done, considering you are taking care of a newborn in the NICU too!

Awww, I'm so sorry. That's so painful! I had a stone when I was around 4 months postpartum with Jayden. It was awful! It finally passed with I puked. It felt worse than labor pains. I hope they have you on the right antibiotic and it gets better quickly. You don't want to end up in the hospital too!

after my Mom had a complete hysterectomy & some lymph nodes removed a few years ago when she was diagnosed with uterine cancer, she started getting Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and has LITERALLY not been infection-free for more than a week in the past 5.5 YEARS!!!!!!! so she can definitely - and literally - feel your pain!

if you want, i can put you in touch with her if you don't feel better soon... she has lots of good little tips to help feel better. she was so bad she had to do IVs at home, so she knows the medical side as well.

i'm working on your package & i'll be praying for you!

i doped up on some ibuprofen. It seems to have helped. I've spent the whole day in bed unable to move and fighting the cold and sweats from a fever....i've pretty much been MISERABLE!
