I had my regularly scheduled OB appointment this morning. I'm only about 1cm dialated and have not started to efface much. That is great news to me, as I am mentally prepared for Aug. 16th and anything sooner than that is going to throw me for a real loop. Not to mention that scheduling people to care for Caleb and Hannah has been a nightmare for the 2 weeks that Shane and I will be in Indy for delivery and the first surgery. I don't want to have to go through that again- especially when it's done in a hurry because I'm in labor!
For those of you who are local and are possibly thinking about coming for a visit after Joshua is born, I wanted to give you a general idea of when it would be ok to do so.
We are scheduled for induction on Monday, Aug. 16th at 6:30am. I'm hoping that if it's anything like my induction with Hannah that Joshua will make his arrival sometime early evening on the 16th. They will immediately take him and get him stabalized and I probably won't be able to see him for another hour or so after that. (if not longer) If you want to come down before his first surgery, I would suggest that you do so on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. If you plan to visit, please make sure you are healthy- no signs of coughing, sneezing, pooping or puking.
The surgery will most likely be Thursday, Aug. 19th- we will have more information on that as time comes closer. You are more than welcome to come and sit with us through the surgery- which is about a 5 hour long surgery. Just don't expect Shane and me to entertain you (I know, it's blunt, but I'm just letting you know what to expect.) We would love for you to come sit with us, pray with us, and celebrate with us when the surgery went successfully- so if you have the time to come to Indy and want to be there with us, we welcome you.

I can't believe how close it is!! We will be praying for exactly what you said: that the first surgery is a total success and that Joshua comes through with his fighting spirit intact, and FLYING COLORS!!
