Charlie Horses, Good Friends, Kids, & Control

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm pregnant, I get some NASTY charlie horses. This time around, they haven't been too bad, but I've had some in some rather weird places. Most of the time, they have been in my calf and foot, but recently they have moved to my knee cap, inner thigh, and top of my ankle. Please tell me how to stretch your ankle, becuase if you know, I would love to learn! I've been drinking lots of water and trying to eat as much potassium as possible, and it seems to help, but what's with the weird places for the charlie horses?!

I had another breakdown yesterday. It seems to go in spurts. I have a long run of good days and then BAM! It hits me and a major meltdown ensues. I hate to burden people with my hot mess of a self when I get that way but sometimes I just gotta suck up my pride and dump on someone. The unfortunate someone this time (and many times before) was my good friend Molly. She has been a great source of strength to me over this entire pregnancy and has a good way of listening and crying right along with me. She has seen me at my worst, yet still chooses (like a crazy fool) to love me.  I don't think I can ever repay her for the amount of love, compassion, truth, and honesty she has shown me. It's not very often that you find friends like her. (Unless of course you are Nabrissa or Carla! I am blessed!)

Finally, let me tell you....my kids are driving me INSANE! Between the attitude that Caleb constantly has, the sibling rivalry, and the constant need for mommy, not daddy, to do everything, I think somedays I'm about to lose my mind. Don't get me wrong, I love my children dearly, but dear Lord, sometimes I feel like I live in a nut house! I'm still trying to get myself excited about being a stay at home mom in the next few months, but let me tell you, finding that excitement is awfully hard to do when the kids are beating each other up, tattling, tearing my house apart, talking screeching at the top of their lungs at the same time, demanding I make them breakfast at every hour of the day, and begging for candy! Jeesh! Someone give these kids some discipline and structure!

Other than that, things are slowly coming together. Big projects are being finished, and I'm consciously working on just trying to give up some of my control and my pride. The most common answer that I have to give to people's questions regarding our future is a simple "I don't know." It kills me to say that, but it's the honest truth. We just don't know what our future holds in literally every aspect of our lives....jobs, family, house, health, finances....everything. It goes against every grain of my being to not have that control, but God is moving and working. It's a continuous battle to give it up, but I'm finding freedom in the unknowns- and having meltdowns along the way.

Ya just gotta love life sometimes eh?

Oh my gosh Jill! I got the WORST charlie horses when I was pregnant with Aly. Of course always in the middle of the night when I finally got my huge pregnant self comfortable would they hit. YUCK! I feel ya! No fun. :(
I also know that helpless feeling of not being able to control your future. I am a planner and it took a lot of adjusting to learn to just live day by day. Things will go back to normal~ a new normal, but still a normal.
Only 33 more days! AHH! How exciting! :)

Try making out the alphabet in the air with each foot, that was a common way to stretch ankles back in my athletic days. Each letter stretches different muscles and ligaments and by the time you get to Z, it should help at least a little bit!

I hardly had any charlie horses when I was pregnant with Sean, but this pregnancy it's every.freakin.night (almost always in the middle of the night like Jenny said). Usually they're in my calf, but Jill, I'm so glad you said they go up your leg because mine are going into my inner thigh too and I thought I was just weird LOL! I don't know how to work out the upper leg ones, but for the calf cramps, I'm able to flex my foot (point toes upward, toward my knee) and it relieves it almost instantly. Hang in there...not much longer to go!

Jill, thanks for the shout out. I have NO clue how to fix your charlie horses. Cut your leg off? Just a thought. lol. I love you lady and don't feel alone. My kids are crazy as well. There are days when I'm home with them and I just want to lock MYSELF in a closet to escape their madness. How about this? I take your kids for a week and you take mine. We will discipline them and then give them back. lol! :) *hugs*
