Fierce and Fiesty

I have forever wanted to get my blog designed professionally. Shane and I decided that it was time to spend a little (and I mean little) amount of money and get it done. Blogging has become such an important part of my life that it has become something worth investing in. I now have a button that you can grab, and will probaby be creating another button including Joshua when he is born. For now, enjoy the new look! No more red octopus! :o)

You have got to be kidding me! Use the money to take your children out to dinner.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Erin did my blog too (actually, I've had her do it three times now LOL!).

Anonymous,

I hope you're kidding. This blog is Jill's lifeline and how she chooses to re-work or update it's look is her business not yours.

Don't even worry about the anonymous comment. It's something that we saved for, and Shane and I decided that it was a worthwhile investment for me. (I've decided to not pay any attention to anonymous comments- if they don't have the guts to put their name with their comment, it's not worth the time and energy to get upset about!)

And C, you are right. This is one of my lifelines! :o)

Early on we took pity your family's situation; however, as time goes on and we see and hear the needs of your family it seems silly that you would choose to spend your money on such a pointless and self-serving outlet. Wasn't it just a few days ago that you posted concern about having money to pay for nursing bras (really) if that's not in the budget how is there money in the budget for a silly blog that was costing you NO money!! There are countless updates about not having the means to cover your mortgage, student loans (you were willing to take a ridiculous 20% interest rate to pay the IRS, housing expenses for your upcoming delivery, and medical expenses for your upcoming delivery. To what purpose does "paying" for a professional blog enhance your message (you are a mother with obligations to your family...yes it is nice to have fun things once in a while; however, stop posting blog about the desperate financial situation if you are able to scrounge money to pay for this. It does not change the words you choose to use and communicate; it simply was something you "wanted". It seems to those that follow your blog, that you make your situation seem like you don't have the finances for the "wants".

that is true, but we have also discussed the fact that we will be putting ads on my blog once it was designed which will bring in a tad bit of revenue for us. Even if it's $50/month it's something. (and will most def. pay for the blog design itself.)

You are right. Maybe we don't always use our money the most responsibly, but this was a decision that Shane and I made together and hopefully it will bring in some long term revenue, even if it's a small amount.

I will be honest in the fact that your comments mean nothing to me since you can't even post your name. If you would like to discuss this further please email me at jillhaskins1@yahoo.com. I won't share with the world who you are, but know that until you identify yourself, I don't really care what judgements you make on either myself or my family.

I tried to post this earlier and I think it failed, or maybe you deleted it...not sure. Anyway, I like the blog design. Looks great. But I would have done this for you for free, if you'd asked. I probably would have changed the layout a little, like created a 3 column instead of 2, because you have so much content in your sidebar. Breaking it up would create a lot less scrolling. But as it is, it does look a little more professional than before.

Leah, I had no idea that you did this kind of stuff! (and your comment must have gotten lost in blog land, I never did see it!) :o)

I ultimately would have loved a 3 column, but we didn't want to spend too much money on it at this point and a 3 column would have been a bit more $. I just wanted the basics to get me started, and as time goes on, add more and rearrange more! :o) I'll remember you when I'm ready for a change!

yeah, anytime. just let me know :) I've been working on websites since I was a teenager, and I've built and maintained blogs for 8 years now. I do a lot of non-profit work with churches and ministries, but fit friends and family in all the time :) She's not actively using it yet, but I recently set Gramma Straughan up with a blog. http://www.marilynstraughan.com/ I wish she'd come visit so I could show her how to use it, lol...

Holy! Creepy Much that random people can read your blog and judge you??? I mean I can see where they are coming from. But for example.... We can't afford to put up a fence, yet I bought a new camera. Sometimes... Yeah. There really is no good explanation. But I think it's alright to be selfish? (if thats what ya wanna call it) from time to take.

Wow, I forgot to read where Jill needed to ask the world permission to spend a little money on something she enjoys. Since you have been following her blog so carefully, you know that she is under quite a bit of stress, and not just financially. I Have been under the stress of having a baby with HLHS, and I can say from experience that sometimes you have to do what might not make sense to most people, but to yourself it is crystal clear. This blog is Jill's little corner of the web, and I like the new design. And unlike the previous anonymous posts I have read I will put my name.

Nice blog Jill....

Once when I was broke-broke-broke, I bought a DVD movie I really wanted when it went on sale. The little things that we enjoy are the things that keep us sane in the midst of turmoil. It's not like you went out and spent $300 on a new pair of stilletos, and it's not like you have a habit of frivolous spending (at least not that I can see...). The little bit of money you spent on this blog redesign likely wouldn't have paid for dinner for four in a restaurant anyway (and about that, I have a son about Hannah's age -- he's NOT fun in restaurants right now LOL, I'm perfectly content to eat a $5 Little Caesars Hot & Ready pizza in front of the TV as our "dinner out" at this point in time).

It looks beautiful, Jill! Do you mind if I link to you on my blog, or would you rather I didn't?

Jill said...

Jessica! Yes! Link up all you want!!!!! :o)

Amy, we are totally with you on that one! Our favorite is the $5.99 large 2 toppings from papa johns and a movie on TV! That is our special treat!

And I agree, taking a 2 year old out to eat is not fun. And usually they don't eat even half of what they order!

We try very hard to watch what we spend, and this was the first "extra" that we have bought in a loooooong time! :o) Thanks for the support my friend! :o)
