Our house has been a disaster area for over a week now. Since the fire, we decided it was just best to tear down the ceiling in the kitchen to open up the kitchen height by another 2 feet. Between the cleaning of the soot from the fire along with the kitchen ceiling being torn down, life has been a bit hectic, chaotic, and overwhelming.
Here are a few pictures of before the demolition started. I will have more pictures of the ceiling being torn down soon.
In this picture, you can see the smoke damage (after being cleaned) in the kitchen above the stove. The ceiling is a false ceiling and has 2 feet of open space above it. All of our cabinets are down and we are ready to say bye bye to the ceiling.
You can see where the cabinets used to be. They went right up to the ceiling. Not any more!!!! :o)
Once again, you can see the smoke damage. This was after Shane attempted to clean the smoke in an effort to save our marriage! haha!
Our house is over 100 years old, and we were hoping to find a million dollars in the ceiling somewhere....but instead, we found nests of petrified squirrels in the kitchen ceiling! SICK!
More pictures to come!
