Now I would have definitely taken it to a wildlife refuge center, but keeping it for a pet ... BATS LOVE Date palm trees and in the summer, at dusk, while trying to play outside, these nasty creatures would dive bomb our heads as I would run SCREAMING up and down our street!

Now that I am older, MUCH WISER, I know that they were just trying to get the bugs flying in the air!
ShawnShawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11410609940311482746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557719621411312017.post-81575247832765077212010-11-29T16:15:05.763-05:002010-11-29T16:15:05.763-05:00lol.... My dad worked at a grain elevator and one day brought home a bat (in a jar), which my little 10 year old self just LOVED!! I wanted to take that thing to school SO BAD! Can you imagine what the teachers would have to say about THAT one? I can still remember my mom screaming, "BILL! You get that thing out of here right now, it probably has rabies and NO you CANNOT take that to school!" hahaha!! I am sure some divorce was threatened there as well! ha! Take care mama - and remember - bats are good and eat all the nasty bugs you REALLY don't want around! :~)Heather - SCH boardnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557719621411312017.post-70903028422774664442010-11-29T10:16:57.614-05:002010-11-29T10:16:57.614-05:00I hope the poor little bat is ok!

There was Darkwing, the baby duck, and Chip, the baby squirrel. They both ended up dieing young, but we are pretty sure they were both sick when we found them. Like Shane, I'm pretty sensitive to animals so me and another lady usually try to somehow capture the bat and take it outside (while the rest of the coworkers are swinging flyswatters and rolls of paper to avoid getting hit by the flying bat). But I admit, if I ever saw one hit a building and fall, I'd probably laugh and chalk it up to natural selection ;-).Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03675074107231603372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557719621411312017.post-50458756227824725382010-11-29T08:59:16.863-05:002010-11-29T08:59:16.863-05:00I'm sad that you had to have a bat in your hom...I'm sad that you had to have a bat in your home, but I didn't like the ending.
